The record year included new and expanded customer relationships with global industry leaders including Box, Adobe, Tenable, Zenefits and PTC, with half of the company’s revenue coming from the enterprise. Drift also expanded its vertical footprint with new customers in the financial services, industrial, telecommunications, healthcare and education markets as enterprises sought out the platform to provide high-touch experiences in a low-touch world. 

“It’s no secret that this year was incredibly hard — and in order to succeed, organizations had to quickly adapt to mitigate the impact the pandemic could have on their business,” said David Cancel, founder and CEO of Drift. “Businesses needed to find ways to connect with their customers and prospects online, in a real-time and personalized way — and I’m honored that companies turned to our platform to fulfill that need.” 

In addition to its record-setting revenue results, Drift continued to position itself as a SaaS leader by creating the Revenue Acceleration category, introducing several enhanced features of its platform and launching new products including Drift Prospector, Drift Audiences and the Drift for Salesforce App.

The company also further invested in Drift Automation, its AI-based chatbot solution that enables customers to effectively engage and qualify website visitors in an infinitely scalable manner. As a result, Drift was awarded a patent for the unique way in which Drift Automation uses an “event-based” AI approach, which is unmatched in the market and allows Drift chatbots to more fluidly engage and interact with a customer’s website visitors.

Drift ended the year approaching 400 employees, and made several key hires to expand its leadership team, including: Todd Barnett, Chief Revenue Officer, Josh Pennino, SVP of Enterprise Sales, Laura Adint, VP of Sales Operations, Mark Siciliano, VP of Sales Enablement and Productivity, and Xabier Ormazabal, VP of Product Marketing. 

In addition to the company’s growth, Drift was honored to be named to Deloitte Technology’s Fast 500 list, Forbes’ AI 50 list, which recognizes the country’s most promising artificial intelligence companies, Gartners’ list of Top 25 Enterprise Software companies to watch, Inc.’s of the Best Workplaces for 2020, and Boston Globe’s Top Places to Work.
